Apple, Swiss, and Bacon Pizza

This has got to be the best pizza I have ever had. It is a bit of a girl pizza (at least I don’t know many guys who would like that combo), so the kids and I had it while my husband was having a work night at his job, eating Papa John’s pizza. This was better then his pizza (but I doubt he’d agree). Oh well. I am going to a girl only function this weekend… perhaps I will take it.

Apple, Swiss, and Bacon Pizza

  • 1 pizza crust’s worth of dough (you can use any recipe, I used my no knead recipe)
  • 3-4 (or 6) slices bacon If you are using turkey bacon you will also need a bit of butter. I prefer the real stuff.
  • 1 small apple, or half of a large one
  • 3-4 oz Swiss cheese
  • 4 oz Fresh mozzarella
  • 1 T apple jelly
Preheat your oven to 450.
Fry up your bacon until nice and crispy.
Chop the bacon and set aside.
Peel, core, and chop your apple. You want fairly small pieces.
Slice your mozzarella.
Roll your dough onto a stone sheet pan or pizza stone.

Use a pastry brush  to brush the crust with some of the bacon drippings.

Roll the apple jelly onto your pizza crust. (Easier then spreading it)

Sprinkle on your chopped apple.

Since that would make a pretty puny pizza how about adding that beautiful fresh mozzarella? Fresh Mozzarella is easier sliced then grated.

Don’t worry. More cheese is coming. Use a fine grater to grate on a good layer of swiss cheese.

Time to get a little hot dear pizza. Bake for about 15 minutes.

Looking good! Better then my messy counter in the background. But, the most important ingredient is not even on the pizza yet.

Bacon baby! told you my counter was messy. But give me a break. I was making dinner.

Sprinkle on some more Swiss cheese to help make the bacon all tucked in and cozy. The residual heat should melt it.

Serve with a salad if you are being good. I was not…
