DIY Lotion Bar

I made these a couple years ago for Christmas. Mark made soap, and I made homemade creams, scrub, lotion bars, and lip balm. Many sisters received pamper baskets full of homemade natural body products. I got to keep most of the bars for myself though, and have been enjoying having them.

It is nice to have a lotion bar where none of the ingredients are scary mysteries, without paying  an arm and a leg for it.

Don’t let the thought of lotion bars scare you, they are really quite easy. You can get most of the natural ingredients called for here from Mountain Rose Herbs.

LOTION BAR

Melt together-

8 oz natural beeswax
8 oz coconut oil (I used refined, but extra virgin would have more health benefits)
20 oz cocoa butter (this adds quite a bit of chocolaty scent. If you choose to add EO to scent the bars, make sure it is a smell that goes well with chocolate.)

Add in-

4 oz glycerin
1 T vitamin E oil (optional)
12 oz grapeseed oil

Pour into mold of choice. I actually used plastic cups and Styrofoam egg cartons.
