My house smells like fall– spices, citrus, and just a touch of vanilla. Mmm… I am not baking right now though, it just still smells like it. There are no candles burning (not that I do not like candles) and no artificial scents (which give me a headache and adds unwanted chemicals to the air) from aerosol cans.
So, what do I have going? A homemade room scent. I have a spray version (perfect for the bathroom…) and a version you can do in a wax warmer. These options use no open flames, no artificial scents, are incredibly cheap, and (best of call) could not be simpler.
Option 1- Room Scent
Pour a few tablespoons of water into a wax warmer. To the water add:
10 drops (or 1/8 teaspoon) each of:
clove essential oil
orange essential oil
annise essential oil
1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.
Turn the warmer on and enjoy the scents of fall.
Note: I add the water because I find it works better. This lasts for about half a day then I add a little more water and let it keep going.
Option 2 – Room Spray
Fill a spray bottle with about 1 cup of water.
Add 20 drops each:
clove, orange, and annise essential oil
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Shake the bottle before spraying around the room to fill it with warm and cozy scents.
Note: Keep out of the reach of children.
Note 2: Do not spray directly, or heavily on the floor as it is oils.
Note 3: This will last a long time, the vanilla scent may fade after time though, you can add more.
